Ode to Bike Riding

As a new bike rider (and not a very good one), I adore Professor Boylan’s rumination on her bike riding experiences, both current and as a youth. Just recently when riding home from Prospect Park, with best friends, glow sticks in our spokes and August wind in our hair, I thought that this was one of the best moments ever.

I hope to have many more of those on a bike.

Yoga for Runners

I return to yoga studios because I find a teacher that inspires me personally and helps to improve my physical yoga practice. At Mala Yoga I found Stephanie. I’m sure the other teachers at Mala are lovely, but I keep returning to Stephanie’s classes; she is a runner and I’m sure that prompts a large part of my devotion. Stephanie specifically teaches a series of yoga classes geared towards runners, emphasizing poses that will bolster our time out on the pavement.

Yesterday during a private lesson (private only because no one else showed up for the 6:30 a.m. class) I came to understand that Stephanie’s return to running was a goal that she set for herself from a hospital bed. She shared her story with NYRR as part of their 2014 NYC Half Stories series.

Inspiring!
